This lush Peanut Dipping Sauce is a match made in heaven with Vietnamese summer rolls! It’s also a lovely dip for fresh vegetables and tastes great drizzled over salads or with grilled chicken. It’s very easy to make and only takes about 10 minutes, if that!
Peanut Dipping Sauce
🍴 Makes: 100ml
🕒 Hands-on: ~ 10 minutes
🎛 Cooking time: No cooking!

INGREDIENTS
- 50ml milk
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- 1 tsp fresh chilli, minced
STEPS
1 Warm the milk slightly (10 seconds) in a microwave in a small bowl. Stir in the peanut butter and hoisin sauce.
2 Add all remaining ingredients. Serve straight away or store covered in the fridge.
Notes:
- Warmed milk — Milk doesn’t necessarily need to be heated but the peanut butter will mix better if added to slightly warm milk
- Peanut butter — Crunchy peanut butter gives a nice texture for the dipping sauce but you can use smooth peanut butter too
- Acidity — I find the sauce works the best with both lime juice and vinegar, but you can substitute one for another (in this case, add 2 tbsp of lime juice or 2 tbsp of white wine vinegar)
- Thickness — If the sauce is too thick for your purposes, simply thin it out with some additional water, milk or lime juice
ALLERGEN & DIET INFO:
🔷 Some hoisin sauce brands contain wheat, so make sure to check the label!
🔷 To make this recipe vegan, substitute milk with with either coconut milk or water. Coconut milk makes the sauce slightly sweeter, while water makes it less creamy.
